OF CONTAINERS AND FIRESTARTS

Cambridge Art Galleries, curated by Iga Janik (2018)

Of Containers and Firestarts was a solo-exhibition (of sorts) at Cambridge Art Galleries, Queen Square Gallery about the containers and forms that we use to share art. It brought together a photo-based work called Firestarts which is about emergency fire making, both in terms of a survival skill and the desire to de-materialize structures that oppress us; and an expansion of the solo-exhibition format which invited other artists to create event-based works outside the gallery in conversation the exhibition.

With Abedar Kamgari (Sofreh), Don Russel (Drawn by Fire), Christina Kingsbury (Walking in Plantain’s Footsteps), Barb Hobot (Snake Walk & Grand River Clean Up), Shannon Phair & Mollie Coles Tonn (Forest Nap), Aislinn Thomas (Fast and Slow Walkers of Waterloo Region)
